The Red Star Radio Factory produces stereo radio cassette recorders①.So far it has gone through two stages in its history.
In the past the factory was poor and backward in equipment and technique. It was set up in the 1950's when there were only less than 80 workers in it. Then the workers made valve radio sets②, and later transistor radios③. The working conditions were poor and most work had to be done by hand.
Since 1980's great changes have taken place in the factory. Today itis ten times larger than before. Five big workshops are well equipped with modern machines. The number of workers and engineers has been risen to over 800. They produce three types of recorders, most of which are sold to many parts of the world.
This factory is an advanced enterprise in China.
Every year it creates an output value④ of more than 100 million yuan for our country and turn over profits and taxes of 30 million yuan to the state.
